How I'll be Voting

guest commentary by Tracy Woldum
When I vote I'm going to vote for the lesser of two evils. I will NEVER vote for
a person who opposes a ban on partial birth abortion (which Kerry did SIX TIMES!!).
For those who don't know what that procedure is, it's a type of abortion that is
performed durring the 3rd trimester, on a baby who is otherwise viable, who would
actually have a chance of living should it be born. The whole procedure is only
to prevent a live birth. They go into the birth canal using tools to grab the
infantís feet in order to induce a breach delivery, then as the body is out of
the birth canal but the head is still inside the mother, they insert instruments
into the babies skull piercing the brain and thus killing the baby before it is
completely born. The American Medical Society has determined that this procedure
is NEVER EVER used to save the life of the mother, in fact the procedure is a much
higher health risk than a normal or cesarean section birth. There is never ever
a reason to use this procedure to save the life of the mother. If there were
dangers to the mothers life, the real way to save her life is to perform a
cesarean section or even a normal birth. The only purpose of that procedure
is to kill the baby. And honestly, thinking that this is the best thing for
any mother to live with the rest of her life, as in this is a good thing?
What freaking planet do you come from? Sure maybe she is 13 and having a
baby would not be emotionally good for her. But what about when she is 20,
30, 40 and then grows up and gains a conscience and realizes what a horrible
thing she did when she was 13 to her baby who otherwise would have lived,
THAT would possibly be enough to bring them to SERIOUS MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES
if they actually thought about how horrible that was. And you know what,
stuff like that NEVER goes away. It will come back to your mind, you will
remember it, and it WILL hurt. This procedure will actually create HUGE
detrimental mental health issues for any woman (young or old) who participates
in it. In the first place, anyone who thinks that this procedure is acceptable
is in need of HUGE emotional help right off the bat. It is evil, it is wrong,
and anyone who cannot see this is in need of serious emotional and spiritual help.

Kerry voted AGAINST banning partial birth abortion 6 times. Sorry, but I can't
support him if he can't support that ban. In our own state we have a Senator
named Russ Feingold who also voted against banning partial birth abortion,
though I don't know how many times he did. But his stance went even this
far that while in the midst of debate on partial birth abortion the discussion
was about "it's a matter of inches". Someone asked the question about what if
the doctor fumbles and the baby slips, the head actually comes out of the mother
before the doctor could kill it, what about a situation like that. And his basic
response was that it would be up to the doctor to decide. Meaning, that the
doctor could decide whether or not it was ok to then kill a live born baby using
the same killing procedure only this time the baby's head was not still stuck
inside the mothers birth canal. So, honestly that means I can never vote for
Senator Feingold either. Unfortunately others don't think this is such a horrible
political view to have because he is our current senator.

The fact that either of those men are "intelligent, articulate, educated, and
well-read" doesn't really matter to me. Intelligent, articulate, educated, and
well-read people can hold moral views that are so vastly different from my own
that I canít vote for them because of my own deeply held convictions.

Ps. I don't think President Bush is evil. I believe he is a good decent man. But he is just a man, and he is not perfect. I also don't think that Kerry is evil, but some of his beliefs I do think are and he just doesn't realize that himself. The reason why I titled this ěthe lesser of two evils is because of the many articles circulating in my family e-mails speaking of the evils of Bush. There is nothing of comparison circulating regarding Kerry. Gee, makes you wonder which side is really throwing the most dirt. I suppose I could dig up many articles talking about how evil Kerry is, but I just don't have the energy. Instead I'm just speaking from my heart.
